The intellectual elitist

"Out of contempt for stupidity and superficiality
I deliberately make my work more difficult than it has to be.
Far more important than being understood
Is keeping far afield the scourge of Hollywood.

"Never pander I to those whom I despise
The fools who stare with vacant eyes
Rulers of the high school social scene
And now of our democracy regime.

"Shall I look for market share
And drive out what is fine and rare?
Shall I glibly serve the fool
When House and Senate are his tool?

"Intelligence, the rare sad bird,
Whom her opponents call a nerd,
She alone shall rule my nest,
Though they would lay her fain to rest.

"Look to who to comprehend is able!
Stop gawking at the popular table!
Though votes and dollars there be served
The fine mind fodders fine on words."
